We are entering our 8th year of homeschooling this school year but we have just bought a new house June 28th, 2013. Because our house is on 10 acres of land, and we have already talked about using the Whinnie The Pooh characters for our family, 10 Acre Wood Homeschool has been born.
Moving has been a big task since we have lived at the old house for 11 years. BUT we are so blessed to have the opportunity to buy our own home and ten acres of land, and we are so excited to start this new adventure in our lives. There are so many neat things here and so many great possibilities...but a lot of work ahead of us as well.
Since we don't have a school room here and the basement still needs to be finished in, we decided to convert our camper into our school room. I have always wanted to have a separate schoolroom anyway. I think it will be nice to get out of the house and away from all the chores that are calling my name and be able to focus just on school. (but of course we aren't bound to this room. We can still do school wherever we want) We have a great set-up for this here because about 150 feet from the front door of our house is a concrete pad where an old house use to be. We pulled the camper up on this and set up our grill and picnic table also. Owl (that's the dad of the family) and my dad hard wired it in so it has electricity. We gutted out the inside this weekend, leaving the bathroom and putting the refridgerator where the bunkies used to be so that we have an open space. We had to leave the table and bench chairs because the heating unit is stored underneath one of them. We also left the top kitchen cabinets for storage. Demolition was a lot harder than I thought it would be and took a lot more time but we got it done and it looks good. The camper is narrow but it will work. Owl still has to plumb the bathroom into the septic tank, but that won't be too difficult since their is already one here at the patio.
We moved our big homeschool table in and now I get to do the fun part of decorating!
So here is the beginning of our "10 Acre Wood Homeschool".
